The Concordia Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit volunteer organization, has been a part of the
Concordia community since 1923. Over the years, the Concordia Chamber and its members have been
leaders in building the economy of Concordia and improving the quality of life. Concordia sits on US Hwy.
81, halfway between 1-70 and I-80. The result is a population of around 5700 that enjoy the rural life, with
large cities in easy reach.
- Concordia is the county seat of Cloud County.
- Concordia is located 150 miles north of Wichita, 175 miles west of Topeka, and 110 miles southwest
of Lincoln, Nebraska.

For those interested in the history of the City of Concordia,

Established in 1872, Concordia is located in the Republican River Valley. Change is
evident here in Concordia! In 2006 the City offered an incentive program in the
Downtown Improvement Project. Several downtown businesses underwent a facelift that
year and the next. An active Retail community with many businesses which are open late
on Thursday evenings. Community pride has spurred the Christmas Lighting program,
which has over 150 6’ snowflakes scattered across town each holiday season!
During World War II, Camp Concordia housed German prisoners of War. The
P.O.W. Camp was located north of Concordia. Concordia is the site of the
National Orphan Train Complex Inc. The former Union Pacific Depot, placed on
the national historic registry, has undergone a complete restoration in order to
become the Orphan Train Rider Museum. Alongside the depot sits the
Morgan-Dowell Research Center. Concordia takes pride in the historic
Brown Grand Theatre, a restored opera house, also on the national historic registry.
